librarian
A librarian is a self-employed professional (with a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree) who handles information and makes it accessible to the end user, regardless of the informational medium. They work in libraries, documentation centers, companies, law firms (organizing collections and conducting jurisprudence research), and may manage information networks and systems, as well as manage informational resources and work with cutting-edge technology. Due to these responsibilities, according to the Brazilian Classification of Occupations (CBO), a librarian is an Information Professional, as are documentalists and information analysts (information researchers on the network). The practice of this occupation requires a Bachelor's degree in Library Science, available at the main federal universities in Brazil, as well as registration with the Regional Council of Librarianship, under penalty of prosecution for the crime of illegally practicing the profession. The technical training acquired in the courses is complemented by tacit learning in the workplace and extension courses; however, librarians need to develop culturally to effectively perform their duties. Oath: "I promise to do everything I can to preserve the liberal and humanist character of the Librarian profession, based on the freedom of scientific research and the dignity of the human person."
