Interactivity
Interactivity is a concept almost always associated with new media communication. Interactivity can be defined as: "a measure of the potential ability of a medium to allow the user to exert influence over the content or form of mediated communication." However, there is also a sociological perspective on the term, which would be: "the relationship between two or more people who, in a given situation, adapt their behaviors and actions to each other." Interactivity is not a term commonly found in dictionaries (RICHARDS, R. Users, interactivety and generation. New Media & Society. vol. 8. SAGE Publications. 2006. pp. 531-550. Available at: ...). The only reference found was in the Oxford English Dictionary, which says: a) An activity involving interaction; b) Property of being interactive. This dual application of the word is significant and deserves investigation.
