Fake
"Fake" is a term used to describe accounts or profiles used on the Internet to conceal a user's real identity. This can be done by impersonating celebrities, singers, movie characters, or even other anonymous individuals.
Fake profiles are found on social networking sites like Formspring, Meadd, and Facebook.
The vast majority of fake profiles are created purely for fun, to meet new people without exposing themselves, to pay homage to their idols, etc. Most fake profiles are between 12 and 17 years old. They are divided into Online and Offline: online profiles are their fake profiles on the internet, while offline profiles are the people behind those profiles.
Many fake accounts lie about their offline identities, but this has become common over time. Fake accounts adopt a second life and end up creating a new personality—potentially leading people to believe it's their fake persona.
Currently, the age of people who use fake profiles can vary, as there are people who have been using them for years and maintaining this false life for many years.
It's important to remember that not everyone uses their profile to "play around" and have fun. There are also malicious individuals who lie and affect people's lives, leading to cyberbullying, which is difficult to uncover.
