Description

Description (from the Latin descriptio, onis, figure, representation, from describere, to write according to the original, to copy, to transcribe) is the enumeration of the characteristics proper to beings, things, scenarios, environments, customs, impressions, etc. Sight, touch , hearing, smell, and taste constitute the basis of description.

According to architect and graphic designer Richard Saul Wurman, there are three ways to describe something: words or text, images, and numbers. Generally, the best descriptions rely on all three, but in some situations, one should predominate, while the other two serve as support.

In SEO, descriptions are used to inform search engines like Google and Bing about the content of the page appearing in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page).
