Deep learning is a branch of machine learning based on a set of algorithms that attempt to model high-level abstractions of data using a deep graph with multiple processing layers, composed of various linear and non-linear transformations.

Deep learning, then, is a type of machine learning in which computers form large artificial neural networks, similar to those found in the human brain.

How does Deep Learning work?

With deep learning, large artificial neural networks are fed learning algorithms and increasing amounts of data, continuously improving their ability to "think" and "learn" as they process more and more data. "Deep" refers to the many layers the neural network accumulates over time, and performance improves the deeper the network becomes. Today, much of deep learning happens under human supervision, but the goal is to create neural networks that can train themselves and "learn" independently.
